Why Have You Forsaken Me

We are searching for a Nursery Worker, until we can hire a nursery worker we are asking for volunteers to help us out. If you would be kind enough to help, please contact the office and let either myself or Tammy know so that we can keep up with it and make sure we have someone to watch our children. As of my writing this (2/15/18) we do not have anyone signed up for this coming Sunday, please let me now if you can help. Thanks

We are going to begin a new series this coming Sunday, “Jesus Last Words”. Each week for the next six weeks we will look at a different phrase that Jesus spoke as He was hanging on the cross.

Matthew 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

We are going to look at what Jesus meant by making this statement and hopefully better understand it as it fits into other scripture. For example, take some time and read Deuteronomy 31:6 which tells us that God “WILL NOT LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU”.

The same word “forsake” is used in both. It means the same in both so how can God say He will not forsake in one place then be forsaking someone in another?

If I asked for a show of hands many would probably go up showing that they have been told that Jesus had all the sin of the world on himself, and God could not look at sin, so He had to forsake Jesus on the cross. We will talk about this and that statement about God looking at sin.

I hope you will join us for this series of messages about Jesus last words from the cross and I pray that you will join me this week in worship as we talk about Jesus being Forsaken or not forsaken as He died on the cross.
