Mission of Evangelism

1.  Nearly 85% of all Americans who accept Jesus Christ as Savior do so before reaching the age of ___.   (7, 23, 13)

2.____% of Americans are saved after the age of 50.   (8, 21, 37)

3.What percentage of people in church have never led anyone to Christ?   (55, 95, 15)

4.The majority of church members are not saved    True/False

In research done by LifeWay 80% of churchgoers who attend one or more times a month believe they have the personal responsibility to share their faith. Three fourths of church goers say they feel comfortable in their ability to effectively communicate the gospel.

What is interesting to me is that in another survey of Evangelism Statistics it is reported that 95% of all Christians have never won any one to Christ and another 80% say they do not witness consistently.

It is hard for me to imagine that so many people in church believe they should be witnessing yet they are not doing it. Wouldn’t that fall under the same sin as “those things we know we should be doing, yet are not doing”.

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also, and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

Do you believe in Jesus? If we say we believe in Jesus then shouldn’t we be doing what He was doing? Wasn’t He witnessing and sharing the gospel and leading people to a relationship with God?

Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.”

Think about these questions: What do you expect from Potosi Baptist Church? What do you think God expects from Potosi Baptist Church?

Since Jesus came to do the work of His Father and save the lost and if we say we believe in Him shouldn’t we also be doing what Jesus was doing?

Join me this Sunday as we continue our series on “Keys to a Successful Church, Mission of Evangelism”.

There’s a story told about a Barber who got saved. One day not long after he was saved a stranger walked into his barber shop and asked for a haircut and a shave. The barber cut the man’s hair and had lathered up his face for his shave and something inside of him said that you need to tell this man about Jesus. The Barber had his razor in his hand and he walked around to the front of the chair and looked at the man with his razor held high and said, “are you prepared to meet your God today”. The man jumped up from the chair and ran out of the barber shop screaming still lathered up.

May we all be followers of Christ sharing “His message” with love!

Your pastor and friend

Bro. Keith
