How Much God Loves Us!

A quote from one of my preacher friends that he posted this week on his Facebook and that I thought was worth repeating: “IF PEOPLE REALLY LOOK UP TO YOU, YOU BETTER KEEP YOUR NOSE CLEAN.”

Have you ever called someone a “myna bird”? I did some research this week on the myna bird because I wanted to know if they were really a talking bird. The answer to that question is yes, they are a very talkative bird and you need to be careful what you say because they can learn and repeat what they hear very easily.

Why the interest in “myna birds”? Ephesians 5:1 says Be imitators of God as dear children. As I was preparing for this week’s message and the continuation of our messages on the theme of love I came across this verse and begin to think about being children and being imitators.

I began to remember all the times I called my children “little myna birds” or somebody else’s kids “little myna birds” because they were copying behavior or repeating words from adults who usually were their parents.

Children do easily learn words and behavior from adults. They also do it innocently in that they may not realize it is bad behavior at first, they just do it because they see someone they trust doing it.

God is our heavenly Father and we should trust Him and as children easily imitate adults, we should “be imitators” of Him and His love and actions.

This month we have talked about “Loving our Neighbors”, “Loving One Another” and “The Design of God’s Love in our Family”. This week I would like our focus on the theme of love to be all about “How much God loves us!”

Paul goes on to say in Ephesians 5:2 that we should “Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”

Do you realize how much God loves you? WOW, God loves you more than you can imagine! God’s love is so awesome that it is like a “sweet-smelling aroma”!

I hope that by sharing and talking about how much God loves us we will desire to be imitators of His love and give that love and show that love to others but first I want us to just focus on how great God’s love for us is.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16

Wow, God loves us enough to send His Only Son to die in our pace!

God loves us enough to give us salvation, forgiveness thru His grace!

God loves us enough to give us salvation and eternal life but even more He desires that we have life “ABUNDANTLY” today! (John 10:10)

This is just a small sampling of God’s love and we will talk about God’s love for us even more this coming Sunday. Please pray for this week’s message and join me this Sunday as we worship and celebrate our God’s love to us.

Bring your family and friends and come and enjoy a great time of fellowship. We will have Frito Pies (provided by church) and desserts (please bring your favorite dessert). We will be watching the movie “THE PENNEY”. Do you call it fate, destiny or coincidence? The Dove Foundation says this about the movie, “Fascinating and complex – The Penny reveals the importance of faith and family.”

Sunday, March 5th we will be having another baby dedication service. If you would like to participate please contact me as soon as possible so that we can make sure we have plenty of Baby Dedication Bibles and certificates.

Thank You

To everyone who participated in the Taco to Casa fund raiser! Thank you, kitchen ladies, for another meal very well served! Not sure the totals yet but I know God blessed it and the future “new floor” in the fellowship hall will look great.

To everyone who came to the game night! It was a blast and the fellowship hall was filled with laughter. There have already been many requests to do it again.

RANGER GAME PLAN! It is time to pick a date and plan our annual trip to another Ranger Baseball game. There will be a meeting this coming Sunday, following our morning worship to discuss this year’s trip.
