Resignation

Well for those who still have not heard let me go ahead put it in writing first. I am retiring as a pastor and my last Sunday to preach as your pastor here at PBC will be February 24th. I am not leaving the ministry just making a change to a different ministry. I am going to be the next Executive Director (Camp Manager or Operations Manager), all three of these titles are being used.

I shared with the church last Sunday that I actually began ministry at the camp in Lueders. That was my first paying job and where I was when I began preaching at other churches other than my home church, which was FBC, Lueders. This is like going back to the beginning except this time instead of being one of the part-time staffers I get to be the manager of the whole place. This is going to be a different kind of ministry, but I am excited about what God is going to do.

Teresa and I are not leaving the area and we will be around and able to continue our friendships. As part of our new duties I plan to attend church with as many different churches as I can. At times I hope to be able to come and worship with “OUR FAMILY” here at PBC.

I pray and I really believe that since I have served several churches in this area and know almost everyone in all of our local supporting associations that once the word gets out I will be supply preaching for other pastors and filling in to help out.

My list of things I would like to do as I close out my time here as your pastor includes, LORD’s Supper and a Sunday evening meal at Rosa’s. Both of these are on the to do list for this coming Sunday!

This coming Sunday we have the LORD’s Supper during our morning worship and Sunday evening our service will be at Rosa’s on the northside. I hope you will join me for these special times!

Sunday the 24th we are planning a “Baby dedication” service. This will be during the morning service, I am excited about getting to do one more dedication (unless you are reading this and want to add your child to the service, call me asap).

Sunday evening the 24th we are going to have our annual MEN’S CHILI COOK-OFF! Men bring your chili, there will be prizes!

PRAYER NEEDS: Topping the list “search for pastor” I believe God already has a great man being prepared! Pray for the camp there is lots of work to be done to get ready for summer camps and to get the camp back into great shape without everything being broken or falling apart. Mike Collier search for new job, all the staff as they prepare for new leadership,

Last Sunday we had a great service! Hunter wrapped up our D-Now weekend, we had two baptisms, I got to make and give two small girls a cake and we had several visitors who have been visiting and who I pray will make the commitment to join soon. I feel like a quarter back who just won the Super bowel and who is getting to retire at the top of his game!

Thank You for being my friends and family! Thank You for 10 great years of working together!

I mean it and can’t say it enough, I may not be your pastor much longer but I will always be your friend!

I pray you will join me this Sunday as we worship thru sharing the LORD’s Supper together.

You Are Building Believers!

YOU BELONG HERE!!!

You have a place to belong! You are God’s creation, you are His, you belong. We are broken. We are all sinners and sin separates us from God, but God’s grace and gift of salvation restores our relationship!

God is awesome! This series has been a God send. We began by disusing our need to be here and belong because Jesus is our savior! Hunter built on that last week as our service revolved around are being broken and God being the fixer! We need a place of safety to come as broken people to allow God to heal us and cleanse us and you belong here in your brokenness so God can minister to you!

My first thoughts as God gave me this series was to talk about You belong Here, thru Salvation, Suffering, Servanthood and “His Story”. I know we are half way into the series, but I am thinking about changing to You belong Here as BELIEVERS, BROKEN BELIEVERS, BUILDING BELIEVERS AND BOOK-END BELIEVERS.

This coming Sunday: You belong here! YOU ARE BUILDING BELIEVERS! One of my favorite stories in the Old Testament is when Nehemiah was called to go rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah was a great leader. He got everyone involved and accomplished what no one else had done. He motivated everyone and together they built the walls around the city.

Our message this week is going to be about the importance we each have in doing our part in ministry. I am sure there were people who said things like “I have never done that before” but they did it. Others may have even said “I have already done that, and it is time for someone else to do it”, but again they did what they were asked.

I pray you will join me this week in praying for this week’s message as we continue this series and I pray you will join me in worship as we encourage each other to do their part in ministry and be a part of ministry.

You Are Not Alone!

YOU BELONG HERE!

Thank You LORD, for blessing us with this new series! “I am Yours” was our first message last Sunday and we talked about how we belong to God thru creation because we are all God’s handiwork and we also talked about how we belong to God thru salvation and how sin separates us from our loving creator but thru the cross Christ has redeemed us and paid the ultimate price to buy His creation back.

You belong here! Thank YOU, LORD, for being our Creator and Redeemer!

This coming Sunday, as we continue this series, we are going to discuss belonging here thru SUFFERING.

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace God through our LORD Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

We glory in tribulations, is that true in your life? The Godly, spiritual answer is yes! The human answer is “I don’t like tribulations”. Tribulations usually mean SUFFERING. Who wants to suffer?

As we shared last week, sometimes we do not feel like we belong because we do not feel like we are part of the local body of believers. We may not feel like we belong because we are new to the community or we may be new to the faith. I hope we took those fears away last week with last week’s message about “I am Yours”.

Some may not feel they belong because they are suffering. Too often people try to hide their suffering and or look upon their suffering with shame and feel that others are doing so as well.

This week’s message is You belong here thru your suffering and God is with you and we the family of God and body of Christ are here to show you God’s love thru your suffering.

I saw this illustration on FB recently: It was a piece of paper with all the words written in different colors and it said: We’re all a little broken, but the last time I checked broken crayons still color.

The main thought of last week’s message was “I AM YOURS” (we all belong to God). This week’s main message is “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” (we are in this together)! Lets do some coloring!

What Have I Given?

I am Thankful for my Family, my Faith, my Fellowship and my Forgiveness. These were the topics and tiles for each of our messages in our What I am Thankful for series. One more that I will have to put on the future list to add to this series is “I am thankful for my FATHER”.

The I am thankful for my Father message will be a great way to connect what we are thankful for and our savior’s birth! I am excited that Christmas is coming soon! I look forward to this special time each year as we celebrate our LORD’s birth and His coming to be our Savior!

As we begin our Christmas series of messages my first thoughts focus on the Wise men and the gifts they brought to Jesus. You can read this story in Matthew 2:1-12.

There are a number of things we can learn from these men and apply to our own Spiritual journey’s. These men made “Seeking God a Priority” and they made “Sacrifices to Please God”.

I keep going back to the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh and asking, “What have I given?” For me this has been a time of reflection.

What have you given?

Another question I ask is “how have I given?” Jesus is not in person in a manger to go to as the Wise Men did. There are ways of giving to our LORD. We can give thru our offerings and tithes. We can give of our talents and abilities. Our witness and testimony are given and shared to lead others to salvation.

As you prepare for Christmas and you make your gift list, what will it include?

Proverbs 13:22 tells us that “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.”

I pray that you will join me this Sunday as we seek to reflect and respond to the “What have I given?” question.

Prayer needs, Praise Patty is recovering at home now, Praise Dan Fryer is well and went back to work, continued prayer for Beth Killough and family (death of Fred Killough), Eric Snider (Darlene Terry’s nephew in Hendrick hospital),

MISSION OPPORTUNITY

We are going to help a family have Christmas! We have all the details in the office. This is a family with two teenagers and twins that are toddlers. We have a list of needs in the office, so we can check off things as they are collected so we don’t leave any person in the family out. I am suggesting, and we are going to try to divide the family’s needs into groups we can give S.S classes and let them as classes get things for example for one of the kids or one of the parents or one class my gather gifts for the parents and one class for the older children and another for the younger children. This is just an Idea, but the bottom line is that we will make this a great Christmas for this family!

MISSION OFFERING

This is also our time of the year to receive an offering for foreign missions. We will be receiving this offering thru the month of December.

DECEMBER CALENDAR

December 2nd “What have I given?”

December 9th Youth make cookies and take to shut-ins

December 9th Church Business Meeting

December 16th “Baptism Service”

December 23rd “Candlelight Service”

There will be no activities on Sunday evening December 23rd and no activities on Wednesday December 26th.

Last thought: “When the wise men came to the house of David and Mary and they saw the young child they fell down and worshiped Him.” Yes they made seeking Jesus a priority and they were willing and did make sacrifices to present Jesus gifts but the first thing they did when they saw Jesus was fall down on their knees and worship Him!

I believe out of all the things we can give Jesus like the gold and our obedience and placing Jesus as our number one priority the thing that pleases Him the most is “OUR WORSHIP”. Will you give Jesus your worship?

See you Sunday! Thanks for your prayers!
