What Have I Given?

I am Thankful for my Family, my Faith, my Fellowship and my Forgiveness. These were the topics and tiles for each of our messages in our What I am Thankful for series. One more that I will have to put on the future list to add to this series is “I am thankful for my FATHER”.

The I am thankful for my Father message will be a great way to connect what we are thankful for and our savior’s birth! I am excited that Christmas is coming soon! I look forward to this special time each year as we celebrate our LORD’s birth and His coming to be our Savior!

As we begin our Christmas series of messages my first thoughts focus on the Wise men and the gifts they brought to Jesus. You can read this story in Matthew 2:1-12.

There are a number of things we can learn from these men and apply to our own Spiritual journey’s. These men made “Seeking God a Priority” and they made “Sacrifices to Please God”.

I keep going back to the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh and asking, “What have I given?” For me this has been a time of reflection.

What have you given?

Another question I ask is “how have I given?” Jesus is not in person in a manger to go to as the Wise Men did. There are ways of giving to our LORD. We can give thru our offerings and tithes. We can give of our talents and abilities. Our witness and testimony are given and shared to lead others to salvation.

As you prepare for Christmas and you make your gift list, what will it include?

Proverbs 13:22 tells us that “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.”

I pray that you will join me this Sunday as we seek to reflect and respond to the “What have I given?” question.

Prayer needs, Praise Patty is recovering at home now, Praise Dan Fryer is well and went back to work, continued prayer for Beth Killough and family (death of Fred Killough), Eric Snider (Darlene Terry’s nephew in Hendrick hospital),

MISSION OPPORTUNITY

We are going to help a family have Christmas! We have all the details in the office. This is a family with two teenagers and twins that are toddlers. We have a list of needs in the office, so we can check off things as they are collected so we don’t leave any person in the family out. I am suggesting, and we are going to try to divide the family’s needs into groups we can give S.S classes and let them as classes get things for example for one of the kids or one of the parents or one class my gather gifts for the parents and one class for the older children and another for the younger children. This is just an Idea, but the bottom line is that we will make this a great Christmas for this family!

MISSION OFFERING

This is also our time of the year to receive an offering for foreign missions. We will be receiving this offering thru the month of December.

DECEMBER CALENDAR

December 2nd “What have I given?”

December 9th Youth make cookies and take to shut-ins

December 9th Church Business Meeting

December 16th “Baptism Service”

December 23rd “Candlelight Service”

There will be no activities on Sunday evening December 23rd and no activities on Wednesday December 26th.

Last thought: “When the wise men came to the house of David and Mary and they saw the young child they fell down and worshiped Him.” Yes they made seeking Jesus a priority and they were willing and did make sacrifices to present Jesus gifts but the first thing they did when they saw Jesus was fall down on their knees and worship Him!

I believe out of all the things we can give Jesus like the gold and our obedience and placing Jesus as our number one priority the thing that pleases Him the most is “OUR WORSHIP”. Will you give Jesus your worship?

See you Sunday! Thanks for your prayers!

REMEMBER TO SET CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR

Thank You, LORD for the Rain! Thank you, everyone who came and made our “Trunk or Treat” an indoor event and a success!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS YEARS SHOW A SUCCESS!

Collecting the Harvest

THANK YOU, LORD FOR MORE RAIN!

Due to all the rain last week we postponed our CAR SHOW. We will have our CAR/BIKE Show this coming Saturday (October 27th). Bring your cars/bikes or just come and see all those who do. We have lots of door prizes and trophies. Come join in the fun.

THANK YOU

To all who came and participated in our first “Mustard Seed” for this fall. We had four different groups go out and gather can goods for “Mission Thanksgiving” and pass out information for our church. We will do it again the first Sunday in November. If you missed this one I hope you can help us with the next one.

THANK YOU

To all the men who came and made our first “Men’s Fall Fellowship” a great event. We had 19 men some good hamburgers and great fellowship. We are already planning our next men’s fellowship.

CRAZY BRIDGE FELLOWSHIIP

This coming Sunday evening we will have a “Crazy” fellowship! If you have not played the game of “Crazy Bridge”, it is not the game of Bridge, that is just the name. It is a game where the rules change with each hand. You will have lots of fun playing this game. Bring yourself and family and friends and your favorite sweets or chips and sandwiches and let’s have a time of fellowship.

TRUNK AND TREAT

Wednesday, October 31st 6 to 7:30

Calling in all boxes, it is almost time to take all our boxes to the collection center. If you have not filled a box yet or you still have boxes you are working on, this is just a reminder to finish them soon.

NEW MISSION:

We are gathering food so that we can help a family or families with “Thanksgiving Meals”. When you go to purchase your groceries pick up a couple of extra items and bring them to church to go in the “Thanksgiving Meals” to bless others.

PRAYER NEEDS: Donna Hightower and family (death of Royce, his service will be Monday, at 11am at PBC), Marsha B, Ozelma S, Mark Childers, Mark Childers mom had a stroke, Jennie F, Cindi T,

Thank you, Hunter for bring another good message. This is the second sermon series for Hunter to participate in and again he did a good job. If you missed this past Sunday Hunter spoke about Discipline and the importance of Discipline in our lives as Christians and our living for Christ. Thank you again Hunter for challenging us to focus on Discipline in our daily walk with Christ.

This week’s message is “The Collecting of Harvest”. This week’s text will be Matthew 13:24-30. There is a lot for us to do to prepare for Harvest. Some of us plant, some of us water, some of us may prepare the soil, some may keep the tractor in good running order but “ONLY GOD” will gather the harvest. In our text another thing that we will not do is “SEPARATE THE HARVEST”. The servant went to the Master and told him that there were weeds growing up with the crop and he asked if he should go pull the weeds, the Master said “No, I will separate the weeds at Harvest”.

There is going to be a “Harvest” someday. I know that I am going to heaven because of my salvation. I hope there will be lots of others who go as well because I have been planting seeds and watering seeds. What kind of Harvest will God gather as a result of your labor?

I pray you will join me this coming Sunday in worship! Join me in praying for God’s blessings upon our message and worship of HIM!

ONE MORE THOUGHT:

Thanks to Melvin we have a movie to loan, the movie “St. John the Televangelist” is a production of Ragtown Gospel Theater. This is a hilariously funny, yet touching story that presents the gospel from the view of an extravagantly flamboyant 21st century televangelist who meets the apostle John on the Isle of Patmos. Let me know if you would like to watch it.

See you Sunday!

Prayer needs: Mark Childers (possible TIA, small stoke), Marsha Bonham (kidney tests), Ozelma (eye, knee), Jennie Fredrick (eye), Cindi Thornton, Praise for Rain, Safety for those in danger of flooding, two good weekends since we are moving the car show pray for God to bless both events on two different weekends

Pray for Hunter as he brings our message this coming Sunday. We are blessed to have Hunter on staff as a minister to our youth and church families. Hunter is going to continue our messages on “Harvest Time” and as we prepare for our “Mustard Seed” ministry he will bring a message about “Cultivating Harvest”.

One more thought:

The LORD will open up for you His rich storehouse, of heaven, to give your land rain in due season and to bless all the works of your hands. Deuteronomy 28:1

I am not sure how much rain we have had, I just know that it has been so much I have lost count. It has been raining so much that people are beginning to say, “please stop”, or things like “they are tired of it raining every day”.

Knowing that every drop of rain comes from heaven and is sent by God and is a blessing from Him, prevents me from ever saying “that is enough”, or “You can stop sending it now”. As a Christian I don’t think any of us as “His Children” should ever think we have had enough or too much of “His blessings” in any form.

I was just thinking about how I have been praying for week’s for God to bless this weekend coming up and with a smile on my face I thought “God, I didn’t see that one coming!”. I was thinking of a different kind of blessing, but truth is “A Blessing” from God is “A blessing” no matter what form it comes in! God has answered our (my) prayer by sending an abundant blessing of rain. Thank You, LORD for hearing and answering prayer!

See you Sunday! Never stop praying for God’s blessings!

Bro. Keith
